Getting around
A simple starting point for metro journeys, train trips and finding your way around China’s cities.
A little preparation makes a new city easier to navigate. Save your destination in Chinese, check the station name, and leave yourself time to find the right entrance.
Keep the Chinese address handy
Save your hotel’s name and full address in Chinese before you set out. A screenshot is useful when you need to show a driver or ask someone for directions.
Check your station and exit
Large cities can have several railway stations, and metro stations often have multiple exits. Compare your ticket or destination with the full station name and consult the operator’s current map.
Give yourself a little extra time
Allow time for queues, security checks and unfamiliar platforms. Check current services, tickets and any document requirements directly with the transport operator before travelling.
City-specific metro notes, station walkthroughs and route suggestions are being prepared. Live route planning and ticket sales are not available here.
